Dublin trio The Script wasted no time in establishing themselves in the higher echelons of the pop world with a chart-topping début album, followed by a sold-out Academy tour in February 2009 that culminated in a pair of dates at London’s Roundhouse, supported throughout by Entec’s sound department.

FOH engineer John Delf’s experience of mixing the band on a Midas PRO6 console at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo spurred him on to request the model from Entec for the tour. “Even after just one sound check I had fallen in love with it,” he recalled.

“We were performing with a full orchestra and it just sounded so sweet. It was also really easy to find my way around the desk. We were up and running really quickly and everything I needed to do, mix-wise, was at my fingertips.”

Although John had expressed doubts over digital, he was completely sold on Midas’ solution. “With the PRO6, everything is laid out in front of you,” he said, “and the POP [population] Groups in particular are such a genius addition it makes you wonder why nobody’s thought of it before!

“In my opinion, the PRO6 sounds better than an analogue model. You have the flexibility of digital but with the warmth, clarity and separation of a Heritage or an XL4, while its size makes it so much easier to load in and out of the smaller venues.”
